This sweet baby girl. Her Mama is obsessed with boho, but with a Texas twist. Boho is totally my style. My studio has been that way for 5+ years, and I’m so glad that Alyissa found me for her maternity and newborn sessions. We actually did Mama’s maternity session outside by the bayou and she wore some of my gowns. In one of them she added a pair of her boots and some western jewelry and it was absolutely precious!

Sometimes babies cry during family photos. I actually have started spitting the session up, especially if there are siblings. I do some table work with baby first, then family photos, then move to props. Sometimes by the end of the session the baby is just about tired of my games and then adding in family on top of that just isn’t the ticket. Parents always want those sweet family photos and I have to be mindful of my clients wishes when I am planning the session, and then I have to go with the flow sometimes too.

The Ebarbs are THE CUTEST! They are also chicken farmers, and I find that to be pretty cool. The world needs all kinds of people and professions to keep it going and I love that the Ebarbs are dedicated to a field that isn’t for the weak. I can’t even imagine the early mornings they go through.

I spend most of my time photographing Women. From Senior girls, to expectant mothers, for boudoir and mom’s with their newborns…. I like to say that I focus on photographing women during the most important times in their lives. The three women you’ll see below were first clients and are now friends. Naturally when I posted that I was looking for women to represent prominent women in black history- they were game!
Keeping reading to find out who they are representing and more about each woman and the things they accomplished in their lives.
Ashley as Harriet Tubman (Araminta Ross)
Harriet was born into slavery in March of 1822. In 1849 she escaped from Maryland to Philadelphia and soon after returned to rescue her family. She would eventually save approximately seventy slaves, including family and friends. She always traveled by night, was known as “Moses” and ‘never lost a passenger’ during her travels.
In 1850 the Fugitive Slave Act was passed. This Act required that all escaped slaves, when captured, be returned to their slaves and it also stated that even citizens of free states had to cooperate. After this act was passed Harriet helped guide the ones, she saved, farther north into what is now Canada.
Harriet was the FIRST woman to lead an armed expedition in The Civil War. She guided the raid at Combahee Ferry and helped to liberate more than 700 slaves during that raid.
These photos of Ashley are meant to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Harriet and are what I envision she would look like if she were alive today.
Dellia as Rosa Parks (Rosa Louise McCauley)
Rosa was born in February of 1914. In 1943 Rosa Parks became a member of the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP, and she served as its secretary until 1956.
In 1955, on December 1st, Rosa was riding a crowded city bus in Montgomery, Alabama. The driver asked Rosa and other Black passengers to surrender their seats and stand, Rosa refused. She was then arrested and fined $10 for the offense and $4 for court costs, neither of which she paid. Instead, she accepted Montgomery NAACP chapter president E.D. Nixon’s offer to help her appeal the conviction. Over the next calendar year the buses were boycotted and suffered great financial loss as 70% of their ridership was made up of African Americans in Montgomery.
On November 13, 1956, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision declaring Montgomery’s segregated bus seating unconstitutional, and a court order to integrate the buses was served on December 20th of 1956. The boycott ended the following day. For her role in these important steps Rosa became known as the “mother of the civil rights movement.”
These photos of Dellia are meant to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Rosa and are what I envision she would look like if she were alive today.
Jessica as Sojourner Truth (Isabella Van Wagener)
Sojourner was born into slavery in 1797, she was freed in 1827 when New York state abolished slavery. Beginning during her childhood, Sojournor had visions and heard voices, which she attributed to God. In New York City she would preach in the streets, and she joined Elijah Pierson’s Retrenchment Society and eventually his household.
In 1843 she left New York City and took the name Sojourner Truth. Feeling lead to “travel up and down the land,” she sang, preached, and urged her listeners to accept the biblical message of God’s goodness and the brotherhood of man. In the same year, she was introduced to apoliticism in Massachusetts and then spoke on behalf of the movement throughout the state. In 1850 she traveled throughout the Midwest, where her reputation drew heavy crowds. She supported herself by selling copies of her book, The Narrative of Sojourner Truth,
Encountering the Women’s Right Movement in the early 1850s, and encouraged by other women leaders, she continued to appear before suffrage gatherings for the rest of her life.
These photos of Jessica are meant to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Sojourner and are what I envision she would look like if she were alive today.
Family photos are SUPER IMPORTANT. Believe me. I lost my own Mama in 2021 and I miss her so much. She’d gone with my kids and I a few years prior and took Christmas Tree Farm photos with us. I treasure those photos so much! Take pictures with your parents. Take pretty professional photos with your parents. I promise, promise that you will treasure them!

You may think to yourself, “ I don’t need to take maternity photos, they aren’t that important to me.” BUT, I can promise you that you’ll regret it. I literally haven’t met a single client who had a previous baby and skipped maternity photos that didn’t regret their choice.

Senior girls are my jam. I love coming up with unique ideas to make their senior photo session one of a kind. I don’t know about you but standing out is fun for me! My girls always get hair and makeup done by my staff stylist Hailey - she really knows what she’s doing, and I love how natural Makayla looked for her photos. She doesn’t normally wear makeup, so we wanted to make sure she felt comfortable and liked her photos too. I love how Hailey kept her skin fair and she just shinned through!

I seriously have the most adorable babies in studio!!! I feel like they have all looked different lately too. So many people say babies look all alike, but I totally disagree. Maybe it’s because I LOVE babies and I get to stare and fret over yours for a few hours, but they all look different to me.

I’ve now worked with Megan twice. She signed up for my maternity model call earlier this year, I was revamping my maternity style. She then booked newborn with me too, and has already booked Daisy’s Sitter Milestone Session and her cake smash!
I absolutely love Megan, we’ve become friends, and I’m so excited to see sweet Daisy in the studio again. :)
What made you choose Leslie Whitaker for your Maternity session?
The opportunity for a low cost model call was what inspired me to get photos with Leslie. Otherwise I would have missed out completely on getting any professional maternity pictures done.
What were you nervous about going into your session?
I was mostly worried about looking fat in my final photos and not having the beautiful round belly look I had always hoped for in maternity photos. I was also worried that Leslie was going to want me to take my clothes off……... Lol
What was your favorite part of your session experience?
Leslie made me feel extremely comfortable very early in the session and felt more like a friend than just a photographer.
How do you feel now that you have completed your session and received your images?
I LOVED every second of it!!! I feel beautiful seeing every single photo she took!
Would you recommend Leslie to other ladies looking to book a maternity session? Why?
Absolutely! She is a great photographer and does amazing work! Her ability to make everyone who walks into her studio feel like a million bucks is uncanny! 10/10 will continue to recommend and hope to book again with her one day!
It’s best to book your maternity session during your second trimester, we typically schedule your session for around 30-34 weeks. Newborns can be scheduled up to 6-8 weeks old, but the earlier the better!
Shreveport Newborn Photographer - Georgia's Lifestyle Newborn Session, by Leslie Whitaker Photography
The studio has the most beautiful natural light, I’m really obsessed with it. I’ve been specializing in newborn photos for more than 5 years and I’ve always done a lifestyle style of family photos, and I’m so excited to announce that I am now able to offer a Lifestyle Newborn Session all of the time.
These sessions take less time, because baby is wrapped for most of the session. Baby is also able to be in a natural environment and we capture natural posing as well. She might have always stuck her left hand up in the womb, she’ll probably do that during the session too and I’ll get to capture that. How special will it be to look back on that as she gets older, maybe show it in the slideshow at her rehearsal dinner.
We will still get detail images of lips, lashes, toes and fingers along with gorgeous images of your family with the new addition.
I do my best to make sure the entire experience is as easy as possible for my parents. We have a toy area for older siblings with books, coloring activities and toys for all ages. We even have a stocked fridge with drinks, snacks and treats. Mom can even add on hair and makeup styling by our licensed stylist. Let us handle the fuss, you just show up and relax while we capture your memories.
You’ll be in studio about an hour and then we will meet in person 3-5 days later for an image reveal appointment; we can also do this over zoom. If you’d prefer an online gallery so that you can view in your own time, an additional fee is required. I can also promise you that you’ll LOVE more than 8 images, so just prepare yourself. :)
Check out Georgia’s sweet gallery below. Her parents have been trying for many years to have a baby, had given up and then Georgia appeared. She really is a blessing, and is such a sweet baby. I’m so glad Marti allowed me to capture these sweet images for her.
Shreveport Louisiana Newborn Photographer - Anastasia's Newborn Photo Session, by Leslie Whitaker
Sarah and Dylan are the cutest couple, and don’t you just LOVE that they named their baby girl Anastasia?! I don’t think I’ve had that name in studio, EVER!
Anastasia was perfect for me during her session. She didn’t wake at all. She had that adorable little baby snore, that just makes me swoon. I loved every second with her and all the baby snuggles.
Mama wore a dress from my client closet and dad brought a couple of different shirts and let me pick what he wore, and his hair was epic. Mama’s hair and makeup was provided by my studio stylist, Hailey. I try to take care of everything for my parents, so that they don’t have another stress when it comes to their first family photos. I think the whole process should be easy for you, the client.
We’re already booking into Fall, so reach out to book soon. I’d love to chat with you.
What made you choose Leslie Whitaker for your Newborn Photo Session?
I had previously looked at her profile for a newborn session and happened to see she had a drawing for some to be done! she does amazing work for what i looked at on her profile!
What were you nervous about going into your newborn’s photo session?
I wasn’t really nervous about anything! I didn’t really know how it was gonna play out though because i’ve never had professional pictures done before!
What was your favorite part of your session experience with Leslie?
All of it! I loved how gorgeous Leslie’s stylist, Hailey, made me feel!!
How do you feel now that you have completed your session and received your newborn images?
I am happy to have them!! Leslie did such a wonderful job taking pictures of my daughter and all of us as a family!

Shreveport Newborn Photographer - Twin Newborn Photographer, Leslie Whitaker - 5 Ways to help your session go smoothly.
Babies change SO fast! Sometimes it seems like by the hour, especially those first couple of days. From one week to the next, your baby will change SO DANG MUCH. Keep reading to find my tips on how to make your newborn session go smoothly.
Feeding - Breast or Formula, it doesn’t matter to me. Feed in best in my opinion, but IF you’re breastfeeding PLEASE avoid caffeine 24-48 hours before the session. Also avoid spicy food, broccoli, or anything else that seems to make baby gassy. Feed baby before you leave for the session, and give gas drops before you put baby in the car seat (if you’re not into this, that’s ok - it will just help to settle baby’s belly so that we get those adorable sleepy poses). Bring at least one feeding, if you’re bottle feeding so that I can top baby off if she gets hungry. I’ll probably need to feed her at least once, especially if we are doing unwrapped poses.
Paci - even if you don’t think baby ‘likes’ his paci.. bring it anyway! If you aren’t using a paci, that’s ok too… but in my experience the session goes SO much better if we have this option.
Carseat - leave baby in her carseat, and allow me to take her out. Don’t worry, I’ll be super satanized and I’ll be wearing a mask throughout your session. I don’t smell like mom or dad, and most of the time baby will stay asleep if I take her out of the carseat.
How to dress baby - I always begin my session with ‘simple whites’. So, you’ll bring baby pre-dressed in a white cotton onesie (short sleeves, long, sleeveless- doesn’t matter). If we have to dress her when you arrive, I may not get those precious stretches, yawns and natural images I’m looking for. :)
Try not to be nervous - I promise I have you covered. No matter what, I’ll do my very best to fulfill your expectations. My studio is stocked with everything baby needs (including pacis, gas drops and diapers - just in case you forgot).
Shreveport Maternity Photographer - Fine Art Maternity Photographer, Brooke’s Maternity Session
Shreveport Maternity Photographer - Fine Art Maternity Photographer, Brooke’s Maternity Session
Brooke drove almost an hour to her session with me and she was absolutely AMAZING! Brooke’s entire gallery deserves to hang in her home. I hope she sees these photos and sees who she truly is. As a mom of 5, I know how hard pregnancy can be on your mental health. Especially when you in it, thank goodness you forget a lot of the bad stuff after the baby is here.
So many of my clients tell me that they didn’t do maternity photos with their first pregnancy, and they regret it. But, don’t let that hold you back. Do it, every time, even if you missed the first pregnancy.
I love studio sessions because we don’t have to fight with the weather, we aren’t hot or cold. It isn’t windy, unless I point the fan at you. :)
I provide EVERYTHING you need for your session. Licensed hair and makeup artist are on staff to pamper you! I even provide what you wear. Sometimes clients bring an item or two that they want to wear, and that is fine too. I just want you to love your experience with me, and of course I want you to love your photos too.
What made you choose Leslie Whitaker for your Maternity session?
I loved your pictures that you’ve done of others.
What were you nervous about going into your session?
Not knowing what to expect, if I would like photos of myself.
What was your favorite part of your session experience?
Feeling so comfortable.
How do you feel now that you have completed your session and received your images?
Loved it and can’t wait until I lose my baby weight to get them done again.
Would you recommend Leslie to other ladies looking to book a maternity session? Why?
Yes, because Leslie takes awesome pictures and makes you feel so comfortable in your own skin.

Ela's Newborn Session by Leslie Whitaker, Shreveport Newborn Photographer
Ela is such a sweet blessing. Her parents, Lauren and Eli, are SMITTEN with her. Eli has the biggest smile when he looks at her, and when he looks at Lauren too.
I get so many parents who are having their second baby who regret not getting newborn images for their first baby, and they are determined to have the works the second time. We do maternity photos and newborn and sometimes even an extra family session, or in home fresh 48 session too! Don’t regret missing out on documenting these milestones. You can’t go back and do them, so make sure to get them done right the first time.
Don’t you just LOVE her hair?! I seem to have had a ton of sweet newborns in for newborn sessions lately with hair, and I am here for it!
All of my babies arrive pre-dressed in a white cotton onesie. Every single baby is documented in this timeless way, and parents always choose at least one of these images, but most of the time three of four. There is something about the focus being directly on baby that every one loves, especially me! Doesn’t Ela look so perfect, just like this?
I love documenting details! Ela’s profile, her sweet little hand and her toes! So precious, and things that deserve to be captured during every newborn session in my studio.
Parent images are so special too! I don’t think I’ve had any parents skip this part in a LONNNNNNG time. My newborn sessions come with COMPLIMENTARY professional hair and makeup services, so why skip it? Hailey did Lauren’s hair and makeup for her session and she looks so dang pretty, don’t you think? She has a snow white vibe! :)
I’d love to talk with you if you’re looking for a newborn photographer in Shreveport, Louisiana. My studio is stocked with everything needed to execute your dream newborn session! Fill out my contact form and let’s start planning!

Shreveport Maternity Photographer | Charde's Mommy and Me | Motherhood by Leslie
Motherhood is special. Motherhood is hard too. Pregnancy isn’t always rainbows, though it can be. The best part is you forget all of the hard stuff after baby is born, why else would we do it again?
I’ve know Charde’ for a long time, well at least 5 years. I first met her when she hired me to take her headshots. She was starting a wedding planning business and needed some marketing maternity. That seems like a 100 years ago. Since then I’ve been her engagement, wedding and now maternity photographer. I was so excited when her husband, Andy, texted me to set something up as a surprise for Charde’.
This will be Charde’s second baby, a sweet boy. And, he doens’t have a name yet! If i’m honest we didn’t name our third baby until a couple of hours before we left the hospital. In Louisiana you can leave the hospital without a name, and you have 30 days to figure it out and file for the birth certificate, but I DID NOT want to deal with all that! So, I texted my husband while he was gone to pick up the older kids and told him to send me 3 names, and I’d choose one. LOL
Hopefully Charde’ wont have to deal with that, it’s not any fun not having a thing with your baby’s name on it for his birth day. I can’t wait to meet her sweet boy, and I hope he’s as sweet as Amilia. She’s a complete doll, every time I see her.
If you’re looking for a maternity photographer in Shreveport, Louisiana I’d love to talk with you! All of my maternity clients receive a complimentary newborn petite session, as a gift from me! I take care of all the details, so you don’t have to take on any more stress. You have enough to deal with.
What made you choose Leslie Whitaker for your Motherhood session?
I admire the simplicity and beauty of her photography. She is always kind and yet super professional!
What were you nervous about going into your session?
That I wouldn't like my pictures because I just wasn't feeling very confident in my appearance at my appointment.
What was your favorite part of your session experience?
Leslie always makes the atmosphere very relaxing. The session was stress free.
How do you feel now that you have completed your session and received your images?
I love the images! I didn't feel like I was at my best during the session but the images captured were simply gorgeous.
Would you recommend Leslie to other ladies looking to book a maternity session? Why?
Absolutely! She is professional, down to earth, and passionate about her projects. She has never disappointed me after hiring her multiple times so of course I would highly recommend based on my personal experiences.
